The dramatic coast between Sydney and Melbourne is one of Australia’s best kept secrets.

Day 1 Jervis Bay
Head south through Wollongong and the Illawarra to Jervis Bay. The drive is sensational with a mountain escarpment that drops dramatically to the ocean. See the hang gliders at Stanwell Tops and the famous Kiama Blowhole.
Overnight Paperbark Camp. (Bed and Breakfast)

Day 2 Tilba Tilba
Before leaving Jervis Bay perhaps take a morning cruise to spot the resident dolphin population. Tilba Tilba is a wonderful village and great place to browse through some of the best craft shops in the area.
Overnight The Bryn at Tilba. (Bed and Breakfast)

Day 3 Mallacoota
It’s worth rising early for a 4WD tour to the sacred site of Gulaga (Mt Dromedary). Perhaps stop for a picnic and a swim in the lagoons of the Mimosa Rocks National Park before crossing the state border into Victoria.
Overnight Gipsy Point Lakeside Apartments. (Camp Breakfast)

Day 4 Metung
If you plan your arrival into Metung for mid afternoon you should have time for a cruise around Australia’s largest inland waterway, the Gippsland Lakes. This region is filled with colourful fishing villages, the turquoise waters of lakes and rivers, isolated beaches and rugged coastal outcrops.
Overnight Chestnut Hill Country Retreat. (Bed and Breakfast)

Day 5 Phillip Island
Phillip Island is a wildlife and nature lover’s paradise. Share a beach with hungry pelicans, see a colony of fur seals splashing in the sun and walk with the little penguins that emerge from the sea at dusk.
Overnight Glen Isla House. (Bed and Breakfast)

Day 6 Melbourne
Leave the delights of Phillip Island behind and carry onto Melbourne.
